Part of the Youth Programme, curated by John Reid-Hansen
The Crown Hill School Guitar Ensemble comprises children aged from 7 to 11. Some have only just started to learn while others have been learning for three years. They will play music specially arranged for them by John Reid-Hansen. This isn’t an “official school outing”; the children are doing this because they just love playing the guitar and consider performing at Music in the Park to be a real privilege. For many of them it will be the first time they have played the guitar on stage.
Abi is honoured to be returning for a second year to perform in the Youth Hour. Abi has been a Singer of the Year finalist at Lord Williams’s School for the last three years and hopes to take her Grade 3 singing exam this year. She is a popular singer at the local pub and when Abi is not singing, she is dancing, taking lessons in ballet, tap, modern and street dance.
India is 15 years old and has loved playing music since she discovered the piano at the age of 8. Over the last couple of years, she has been playing the guitar and singing under the guidance of Simon Markland. India now enjoys performing at local open mic nights and is delighted to have the opportunity to appear at Music in the Park. Taking her inspiration from country music, India has recently begun writing her own songs on both the piano and the guitar.
